Will Teeth Whitening hurt the Soft Tissue (gums)?

People with gum disease or excessive cavities should be treated for these conditions. The active ingredient in the gel itself is safe, but if prolonged sensitivity to the gums does occur for more than 24-48 hours it typically flags an existing problem not normally associated with the whitening product itself but rather with the dental or oral hygiene of the person using the product. In such case the client should contact their dentist.

Will Teeth Whitening damage the enamel of the teeth?

Research data shows there is no risk to the enamel of the teeth, other than the advised 24-48 hour sensitivity.

Are there any side effects?

A small percentage of users experience increase increased sensitivity to hot and cold or minor gum irritations. These symptoms usually subside within 24-48 hours after the whitening process.

Does whitening work on veneers, crowns, bridges and fillings?

The whitening process will clean crowns, veneers, bridges and fillings to their original colour. Nevertheless, it must be noted that the users own teeth may become whiter than the colour of their veneers, crowns, bridges and fillings and they may need replacing.

How long will the results last?

The SmileQuest laser light procedure will stay noticeably whiter for 18-24 months; however periodic touch-ups, one ten-minute SmileQuest laser treatment usually every 6-12 months, should be performed to keep the smile at its brightest.
